This lilliputian treasure, with its turquoise waters and lush green coastline, lies thirty kilometres southeast of the Old Town, in the same deep bay as Poros village. Half of the beach is organized while the other half is free. So whether you want to relax in a sun-lounger or prefer the privacy of your own umbrella, there’s a place for you. If you arrive early, there’s plenty of natural shade. But don’t forget to reapply your sunscreen often. The beach’s characteristically white pebbles magnify the sunlight, making it even more intense here.
Due to its geographic location, Mikros Gialos is always sheltered from the wind, so it’s a favorite among families with small children, especially on windy days. The seabed is mostly sandy with some flat stones in places. The water is unbelievably clear while the closed bay creates a pool-like impression that makes you want to spend the entire day in the water. With ample activities like sea-cycling and canoeing to choose from, you’re bound to do just that. All along the beach you’ll find cafes, taverns and mini-markets to satisfy your needs. Our favorite pick is Zolithros, a family tavern synonymous with delicious fresh seafood!
If you visit Mikros Gialos during high season, you’ll need some luck finding a free place to park. Our suggestion is to start early and park along the road. Otherwise, look for one of the private car parks.
